The City of The Dalles is recruiting for a City Clerk-Public Information Officer.
This full-time, confidential and FSLA Exempt position.
The City Clerk is the local official who administers democratic processes such as access to city records, elections and all legislative actions ensuring transparency to the public.
Performs all duties to manage the City Clerk's office, administration of City Council meetings and activities; serves as the City's Election Officer, Public Information Officer, and oversees the City's records management system and ensures compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITY:
Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office; Social media platforms; website Knowledge and experience in general municipal government, City Council procedures, Roberts Rules of Order, meeting and record laws, election laws, records retention laws Ability to plan, organize and work as team coordinating events for the City Ability to interact positively with citizens, employees, and the City's customers and partners Ability to speak in public on a wide range of subjects.
Demonstrated professional leadership and supervision abilities EDUCATION:
High School graduate or equivalent; ability to achieve Certified Municipal Clerk designation within three years.
Experience:
Five years' experience in administrative or governmental management position or combination of experience and college degree to equal five years.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Certified Municipal Clerk designation within three years of employment Driver's License.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
